Arriving in Nepal  April 1, 2019

On the first of April, the team will fly into Kathmandu, the gateway to Nepal.  Once a stop on the silk highway, it is now one of the fastest growing tourism centers in Asia. The ancient city supports a diverse population of over a million people.  Many of the common ethnic groups are unknown to people in the west - the Newar and Mongoloids, including the Magars and Sherpa, the Chettris and the Tamangs from the hill districts.  That, along with the prevalence of the Hindu and Buddhist religions, makes the area rich with cultural practices and traditions.

Kathmandu sits at an elevation of 1400 meters (~4600 feet).  The Everest Base Camp is at 5,360 meters (~17,600 feet).  We will acclimatize and enjoy Kathmandu through April 3rd.
